At Ignite Images we do a lot of work with Rush Talent – in this article Mel Hales shares a few tips for booking a speaker for your corporate event.
How do you find the perfect speaker for your event?
Someone who will engage, inspire and entertain your attendees? A speaker that will bring the event together and have everyone buzzing for hours afterwards?
Here are three top tips from broadcast agent Mel hales:
No big budget? No problem.
Don’t worry if you can’t afford the top newsreader of the moment. You’ll often find fantastic speakers who will inspire your attendees just as much for a fraction of the price. Foreign correspondents with exciting tales of adventures abroad, ex-sportsmen speaking of endurance and extreme discipline, news journalists, providing the in-side story on the industry. Be creative in your thinking and you’ll find there are exceptional speakers out there who won’t blow your entire event budget.
Keep it fresh
Although it’s nice to see a familiar face at your annual conference, sometimes the key to organizing a dynamic and interesting event is to keep it fresh and seek out new speakers or hosts. No two speakers are the same and each one will bring something different to your event. It may provide your attendees with some new create ideas and a new lease of energy.
Talk to agents about what their clients can offer and their previous experience at similar events. Even if you don’t have anyone in particular in mind, they can usually make great suggestions that fall within your budget. Seek out TV or radio personalities that you like and it can be as simple as googling that person’s name to discover who their agent is. If that person doesn’t fall within your budget the agent should be able to recommend someone similar who does.
